Alcohol-Free Beer on the road

Raising awareness among drivers on the road

Spain is the main consumer and producer of alcohol-free beer in the EU. According to the latest official statistics, around 15% of beer consumed by Spaniards is non-alcoholic. These data show that beer is consumed in Spain for its taste and properties and not for its alcohol content. Alcohol-free beer is a safe option for people who cannot (pregnancy, breastfeeding, professionals in work environments, drivers), or do not want to drink alcohol but like the taste of beer.

‘En la carretera, Cerveza SIN’ (Alcohol-Free Beer on the Road) aims to raise awareness, among drivers and in society as a whole, about the incompatibility of alcohol and driving, with special emphasis on new drivers. It also presents the option of choosing alcohol-free beer as a totally safe choice before getting behind the wheel, allowing you to still enjoy the taste of beer.

‘En la carretera, Cerveza SIN’ enjoys strong social and institutional backing, both at a national and European level, as well as being supported by a large group of collaborators that join forces year after year including business associations and support organisations for traffic accident victims.

In recognition for the work we do on road safety and to raise awareness, the Directorate-General of Traffic (Dirección General de Tráfico -DGT) awarded Cerveceros de España the Road Safety Medal for Merit. Moreover, this campaign embraces the goals of the European Road Safety Charter promoted by the European Commission, which it has endorsed since its introduction in 2004.
